These editors are called different things in different control panels, so where you're looking matters, hence the URL question.

So i want to use some HTML on a page of a website, but it only has 2 tabs. The 'text' tab and the 'Wysiwyg' tab. How can I get rid of the weird wysiwyg thing and get HTML instead? It's pretty annoying if I'm not able to use HTML... What does the 'Wysiwyg' thing even do? It doesn't accept HTML... Please someone help me out with getting the tab back!

I already wrote about this problem in an already resolved topic, so I guess that's why I didn't get any answers.

Anyways - although problem with wysiwyg editor interfering with diacritics shortcuts was supposedly resolved, there's still problem with getting ą and Ą. Apparently, alt+a shortcut is mapped to "select all" function. Same goes for alt+shift+a.

I wasn't able to find any shortcut mapping options, so I figured I'd write about it here. Would apprecieate any help.

Hey, thanks! I'm using Safari 5.1.7 on Mac OSX 10.6.8.
I cleared the cache in Safari and deleted the cookies for wordpress.com and when I restarted Safari, things were back to normal.

Fixed another weird thing on my local public library's site too. I like the cookie dance.

I went to my "add new" post admin page and it looks very different. Only a small text-box without the toolbar for links and such.

There are just "Text Visual Upload/Insert" clickable text, but they don't do anything when I click them. I thought it might be a "text" page, but clicking "visual" doesn't change it.

Anybody know why this might be?

This is what I believe to now be completely missing.

Info from "Help"

"If you do not like the way the rich editor works, you may turn it off from Your Profile submenu, under Users in the admin menu."

There is no admin panel in my dashboard, or profile that I could find. I have looked everywhere. All that is there are setting unrelated to the rich editor.

I'm not sure what has happened, but there is no way (that I can see) to completely disable the visual editor, which was there when the account was initially set up. I absolutely hate this because all the HTML code I add to posts and pages disappears immediately.

I have gone through every single dashboard link, and no where can I find the "checkbox" to disable visual editor and use HTML. Unless this feature has been moved to another location in the dashboard (and been renamed) The information on the Internet is years out of date (as much as 5 years), and to be honest it is very frustrating. I have read about updates recently on WP, but that seems to only apply to people have standalone server, and not hosted accounts on WP as in my case.

My set up is NOT on a standalone web server. The WP account used is free, and hosted by them so I am aware that I am at WordPress' mercy. No, I have not switched themes (yet) because I want to know if I have missed where this disable visual editor is located. It is was removed, but can be found on other themes I'll have to switch.

I really hope someone has a professional answer for this issue.

Please, please, please? It would make my life and other people's lives so much easier if we could have this. HTML is okay but wysiwyg is so much easier. Also the font is easier to read.

@hungryjohn, in this case, the visual editor issue that happened on WordPress.com is likely unrelated to the one you experienced. For a WordPress.org setup with visual editor troubles, the best thing to do would be to load up a browser tools such as Firebug for Firefox, try to catch an error on the page when you see editor problems happening, and then post the details to the volunteer-based WordPress.org support forum. Giving more specific error details in your case, may really help. You should also mention if you have any plugins installed that affect the visual editor or if you have made any modifications to the visual editor in your copy of WordPress.

@andyszpuk, I tested Firefox 10.0.2 on a Mac and IE8 on Windows 7 just now, and I am unable to reproduce the problem since it was fixed on March 2nd. I think the visual editor should be working for you in IE9. To confirm, did you say the problem with the visual editor not working only happens with the latest post on your blog? Could you provide a link to that post please?

I logged out of WordPress, cleaned out my temp internet files and cookies, logged back in, but the problem still persists.
