I have developed a site locally using xampp. I am struggling moving it over to Godaddy. I have researced suggestions out there, but I am still running into problems. Here is the gist of it:

Currently, the site http://www.cartees.us has wordpress loaded and the theme twentyeleven_child loaded. It is defaulting to the "template" you would find if you just loaded wordpress.

On my local drive, theme twentyeleven_child is using a shopping cart plugin, 30+ images, and some simple custom code. Also, I am using the aside.php for my posts.

I have yet to move over the custom images, but I believe I have moved everything else over, it is just defaulting back and none of my work is showing.

Any suggestions on what I should do next?

I have recently created a database using Microsoft Access 2010. I tried to import this website compatible database to the WordPress using XAMPP for Windows. The WordPress is hosted at http://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin which has been successfully setup in my computer.

Everything in the WordPress is fine except that it is not allowed to import my said database into the WordPress. The WordPress has the functionality to import databases from outside. And it has MySQL embedded.

From XAMPP Control Panel ->phpMyAdmin->Database->Import ?€??€?->Choose ->theDatabase->GO, it should import the database correctly.

However, when I tried to import the said database, there is an error message saying: ?€?You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ?€? ?€? at line 1?€?. The strange signs as appeared here are also questions: what are they and how do they come and why not they are solved in the first place?

The MySQL server version I am using is: 5.5.8. My computer operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium.

After failure of attempts to find the right solution to the problem, I have to report and publish this issue, hoping that this problem can be solved as soon as possible.

I wonder if this is a bug or something that is beyond understanding right now. Would you please offer solutions and guidance. Thanks.

In an unexperienced effort to upload my already developed WordPress blog from localhosting (XAMPP) to a remote hosting, I changed the WordPress address and Blog Address (in the General Settings page) from http://localhost/wordpress to http://example/wordpress. As a result, don't have access to my WordPress blog anymore, since when I try to access from http://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin/ I get redirected to http://example/wordpress/wp-admin etc...., where the database does not exist. How can I get out of this mess? Is there a php. or htaccess or MYD, MYI file I can modify to be able to access again?

Thank you very much for your support

No, and the theme here has been modified so that it will not work properly on a self-hosted blog.

This is the link to the self-hosted version, but do note that it has NOT been updated since 2007 which means it has been left behind by wordpress development, and it might require a considerable amount of work to get it to the point where it would support all the features and such that have appeared in wordpress since 2007. It likely doesn't have the necessary image selectors in the CSS, nor support for threaded commenting and several other things. It could require a considerable amount of work in the CSS, and probably also some changes in the underlying theme php script files.

Hi
I have created the outline for a site on wordpress.com. I now feel that I will have to host it myself so that I can add more plugins . Therefore I would like to work on it locally. I have seen that there are lots of tutorials about migrating to another hosted server, but not to a local xampp server. I have wordpress installed on my local server, but as I like the theme which I have customized, it seems sill y to spend hours I do not have, learning to create sometng from scratch!
Can anyone tell me how to download my wordpress.com site and install locally?
Many Thanks

Hello all,
I've got the following work environment: Notebook (1.6GHz, 504Ram) with Windows XP, Service Pack 3, Localhost-Installation with XAMPP 1.70 (apache & mysql) and WordPress 2.7.

My Problem: After correct (3 Minutes) installation of WordPress, I try to login on the wp-login.php site (admin + password). After I click o.k., I got a Blue Screen (BSOD), my PC shuts down and re-starts. After that I got a Windows Error Message.

Measures I did so far: Re-installation of Xampp, different browsers, etc. Nothing helped ...

So what can I do? Is is it a hardware or software problem? Please help, I'm completely stranded.
Thanks for all,

Hello!

I'm a beginner. :) I would to ask you whether I can create my WordPress web site offline (using XAMPP) and then to upload it to my host service's server? It should work, shouldn't it?

Tell me, please, everything I have to pay attention to when doing this.

Thank you very much.
