The browser platforms are:
Safari on Mt Lion and Tiger - No problem
Chrome on Win 7, XP - No Problem
Mozilla on Win 7, XP, Mt Lion & Tiger - No Problem
Explorer on Win 7 & XP - No Problem
Chrome on Mt Lion - does not work. Any solutions to resolving this would be terrific. The embeds appear to be ok but they cannot be played.

That all makes good sense
Except i was doing that (pretty sure anyway)
and it was reverting back to being wrong (as in without the =)
But whatever you did it is now all working so..

The problem was a missing = sign in your embedding code.

For example, you had something like:

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ms4JLAKalYw&w=560&h=315]

...but that should have been:

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ms4JLAKalYw&w=560&h=315]

If you don't need to specify a width and height, you can also simply place the YouTube link in its own line, without the shortcode, like this:
<br /> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ms4JLAKalYw

didn't work
then used the normal embed code again
when post updated and showing on its own, its showing
when you click home and view the whole blog feed again
it's back to as you see it

After my Adobe Flash Update to version 10.3.181.34 yesterday, some embedded videos on the web wouldn't work for me as a default user. When I tried as administrator, there were no problems. But I won't surf as an admin!

My cure for now was to restore my system 2 days backwards. Now I'm waiting for Adobe or Microsoft to adress the bug and post a cure. In the meantime, I'll try hard to keep my Adobe Flash ActiveX version 10.3.181.26 and my Plug-in version 10.2.153.1

They might be outdated, but they work fine on my Win7-IE9

The problem with some embedded videos belongs to my own browser settings.
If I log in as admin on my PC, all embeddings look fine on the web.
Something or someone obviously changed my default-user-browser-settings.
Maybe I'm the one to blame :-) Seems like I've got some work to do...

Visit Settings -> Media in your blog's Dashboard and make sure that "Enable auto-embeds" is checked.

Have you tried using the shortcode? That's what jongoldstein177did

Example:
Paste the video URL on a line by itself in your post/page editor. Then create a shortcode using the format below. Be sure to replace the URL listed here with the URL of your video.
