I went through and changed all the ones I found associated with the slider to zero (but try this first, and test, since the z-index may come into play when the slider is functioning), and then I added this:

.header .logo {
    margin-left: 18px;
    position: relative;
    z-index: 1;
}

Specifically - the position and the z-index. Z-index won't work without the "position" element. I then set the z-index to 1, since all the rest of the them were zero, and one would be the top layer then.

Good luck!

Ok folks - here's the deal...

http://www.bamgraphics.com/flgq/ has a bunch of z-index items (the theme came with them) that i've been laboring over. All I'm trying to do is to make the gold top move in front of the picture of the musicians rectangle below it.

I think there are way too many z-index's going on with the css now to make this work.

thanks in advance...

Hello,

ISSUE

A Flash movie in a layer on a DHTML page containing several layers may display above all the layers, regardless of the stacking order ("z-index") of those layers. This is the case with the VideoPress player in Internet Explorer 8.

REASON

By default, browsers place embedded plug-in content, such as a Flash movie or Java applet, on the topmost layer. In older browsers, attempts to place a DHTML layer on top of a Flash layer would fail. Newer browsers add the ability to layer Flash content with DHTML content and in some cases the ability to use transparent backgrounds in the Flash content (see below).

SOLUTION

Use the WMODE parameter to allow layering of Flash content with DHTML layers. The WMODE parameter can be 'window' (default), 'opaque', or 'transparent'. Using a WMODE value of 'opaque' or 'transparent' will prevent a Flash movie from playing in the topmost layer and allow you to adjust the layering of the movie within other layers of the HTML document.

QUESTION

How can this be done? Since we use short codes to embed the player in pages, how can we avoid the video overlapping drop down menus?

Thanks,
CG

Yes, you have to do more thAn just define the selector.

For the id selector "#everything" to work, you'd need to create an element with an ID of the same name, otherwise, it just won't work. Because "header" and "wrapper" do exist in the source code, your changes are visible.

Since no user has access to the PHP code to create elements, one way to achieve this is to create the element in a text widget. I believe the software removes ID attributes from the tags, so I'd suggest you to use a class instead. The code would look something like this:

<div class="everything">
     <img src="yourimage.jpg" [other attributes] />
</div>

Then in your CSS, change the selector from "#everything" to ".everything" and that should do it.

For all this to work, I'm assuming you have the CSS upgrade.

HTH

I want to create an element for my blog. I kind of have an idea how to code in css, I'm not sure that is the right term though. Let me explain this way, you know that line that goes like this: #wrapper{}; I want to create another one that will do nothing but display a picture with a z-index greater then anything else and hold a png image that will display some cool image where ever I want it to on the page. Is this possible? Or am I wasting my time? I know you can do a lot css, check out csszengarden, all the same code, just different style sheet, so I think what I want to do is possible, I just haven't found out how yet.

thanks for help

You can probably get the idea of what I want to do by just looking at the site and the two images on the site. I am having a hard time positioning the logo and nav. (This is were z-index might come in hand?)

Don't worry about styling the nav I will do that later, more worried about the position.

After we do that I would like the text to wrap around the logo a bit. I am sure there is something online already that will help me with that.
