True that kiwidutch! It's funny that you'd be making this point right now, since I literally just wrote a post similar to what you've described. 3 blogs focused on books and writing, written by people I respect very highly.

Here's the link: http://timestageembassy.com/2012/07/27/friends-of-the-embassy-july-2012/

As someone new to blogging, I'm really hoping to get noticed, but I want to do it in a way that is constructive rather than bothersome. I enjoyed reading through your recent posts, btw.

Thanks Goodvillage,

I went and checked out your blog too btw...

I once likened posts in this forum that just say "I have a new blog, go look" like a city full of shops that have blank shop fronts and windows ... how are you supposed to know which of the thousands you want to look at... it's just too tiresome and time consuming to go and look for the sake of it...

Making friends and becoming a "regular"on blogs that really appeal to you really DOES pay off. not just in your stats but also because you make friends and get links to other great bogs via your friends and then it starts to work visa versa IF you are posting good content.

But in the end, statistics should be the least of your worries... great content and good writing should be your first consideration by far.

Couldn't agree more. I think the fact that there are so many topics with only one comment (the poster) is evidence of this.

You need to give before you get :) Good luck with your mission.

So you'd like some new people to see and maybe even follow your Blog?

Guess what, here's a BIG tip... you DON'T always get followers by shameless self promotion, you DO often get followers by extending your network and recommending OTHERS...

(sounds like it shouldn't work but it DOES!)

My advice: Constructive Networking.
(i.e. spread the word about one good blog to another good blog, pick like minded souls who will appreciate the link-up)

How?:
Recommend one of your favourite blogs to another blogger of like mind/ style / theme / interest that hasn't met that person yet via comments yet that you know of.

I'll start to ball rolling...

I'm introducing photographer Zannyro (a.k.a.Suzanne)
http://awindowintothewoods.com/2012/06/11/red-alert-red-alert/

to...

Milkay Photography (a.k.a. Tracy)
http://milkayphoto.wordpress.com/2010/06/08/wheres-the-beef/

Click on the links to blog posts of theirs I have chosen because I think that they really illustrate well why I think they would love one another's blogs.

I'm daring you to look outside of yourself and to promote someone else... Who knows.. someone *might* even introduce YOU to a new blog that you will love, and gain you a new follower in return.

Sooo...a Challenge: How about you?
Who are you going to introduce someone to?.. and which posts of the two bloggers inspired you to do so?
