One of them assign to the primary navigation and include the pages you want to show at the top. Create a second one and use the custom menu widget in the sidebar with the pages you want linked there.

For example, I wanted to make more room for more interesting pages on the top of my page, and then I wanted to have an "About this Site" page that did not show up with the other pages, but instead on the side bar. Does anyone know how to do this?
