@grahamwiffen
We cannot use any iframes or JavaScript widgets for security reasons. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/ The thousands of widgets referred to that can be used must contain only pure HTML. If you find Flash widgets you want to use then there is a gigya code workaround that can be used. http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/07/22/gigya-shortcode-3-widgets/

Bottom line: I don't think searching the internet for widgets is a productive use of your time. Simply state what you want the widgets to do and we regular Volunteers will most likely be able to save you a lot of time and energy.

Many companies have code that you can copy and paste into a Text Widget specifically built for WordPress.com.

There are thousands of widgets available in if you self host a WordPress.org site but we're a little more limited here.

Graham,

You can add a variety of widgets to the 2011 theme. In your Dashboard go to Appearance > Widgets and drag-and-drop any of the widgets on the left to the appropriate area for either the Sidebar or Footer Sections.
Here is a more detailed look at how to use widgets: http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/

The Contact Form is so simple you probably missed it. Just go to the Page in the Dashboard where you want the contact form and click the little square icon next to the 'Add Media' Button. The Contact Form has many options so you may want to give this a look. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/ (There's even a short video at the bottom of the page!)

Have fun!
