You cannot crop the sticky post thumbnails to suit you. The software does this automatically and you cannot override that.

I'm dutifully uploading an image (and designating it as the featured image) with each post -- can I alter what WP.com "chooses" as the visible portion (for those images that are larger than the featured image area)?
