I am going on exchange to Shanghai for 7 months, and I want to be able to blog about my excperiences to keep family and friends in the loop. As far as I can tell, wordpress blogs are censored in Shanghai. Is there any way I can get around the censorship? Would this work by changing to a self-hosted blog (without wordpress.com in the URL)? To be honest I don't know much about computers and even after researching over the past few hours I'm still confused. What is the easiest/cheapest/best option for me? Should I just forget a wordpress blog and switch to a blog that isn't censored in Shanghai (anyone know of any?)? Or if there is a way to ensure my blog won't be blocked that would be fantastic news! Thanks!
