Basically, you gave the div an ID of something that was already defined with no background in your theme's stylesheet.

I had first used , but by using that when a word was clicked it would not go exactly where I wanted it to go, close, but not quite. I then changed it to <div id="text"> and that removed the background color, I put it back the way it was and all is well. isn't that odd?
