Using Word can have unintended consequences like that. Instead of using Word, we recommend that you:

* write directly to our editor
* use either a plain text editor like TextEdit or Notepad then post to our editor
* use a desktop client to post to WordPress (http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/ -- including Word 2007 or newer via API)
* use post by email feature (http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-email/)

Yes, I drafted this in Word to make sure I had the formatting correct. When I copied it over to WordPress, i noticed the blue shaded boxes. Thank you for fixing it.

The issue was that you had somehow surrounded the text with the pre html element. I have removed it, and the text looks fine now.

May I ask how is that you are writing your posts? Is it directly in the post editor, or by using some external software? Did you copy and paste your post from Word or elsewhere? I ask because I'd like to be able to help you not have this issue agin. :)
