Yes -- it's advertising. WordPress.com has been running advertising on our free hosted blogs since 2006. Many bloggers do not know this because despite the fact they ticked the box required to get a free blog, they did not read the ToS. Many also do not read features page, or advertising entry in the support documents after registering their username and blog(s). Also note that as the ads do not display to us when we are logged in, and as many use browsers with ad blockers when logged out, they may not realize they are there at all. The only way to get rid of all advertising on our free hosted WordPress.com blogs is to purchase an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade.

Hoping some of you out there can help with this as Support Team are 'off air' until 29th October...
While checking on 2 earlier posts on my blog I was surprised and worried to find 2 large bright green buttons with 'Play' and 'Download' on them at the end of each post.
When I clicked on one button to check it, it took me to a site with a countdown to 'download' or play video.
I've just checked back and the buttons have now disappeared... and no I've not imagined it!
Has anyone else had this experience or any idea how it's happened? I use a MacBook and am not usually bothered with viruses etc.
thanks
Mari
