a) Some themes have a built-in search box in the header area, but I don't have a list. You can see all themes in action in the Theme Showcase site:

b) Many themes support footer widgets. See this post of mine:

For newer themes not included in my list you can check the Theme Showcase again and study the theme descriptions.
