Alternately you could switch to the P2 theme which under theme options gives you the option of allowing any logged in wordpress.com user to post on the site.

P2 was designed for collaborative sites and has a lot of unique features, but it is also a little odd in some respects and there are some things that don't seem to work as they should - or at least as one expects.
