I strongly suspect it's because of the MiFi. It does not hold a constant signal and drops connectivity frequently. Usually, the drops are minor and it picks right back up, often without me even noticing. Sometimes, the drops are so frequent and longer in duration, and connecting to the internet is a monumental frustration.

I think I'm just going to have to take photos and upload those for now. Eventually, when we have better connectivity, I can add the PDFs then.

Unless the entire WordPress.com community is experiencing the problem and we aren't, IO errors, are typically connectivity issues somewhere between your computer and the WordPress servers (intermediate invisible proxy server issues or network disruptions, etc.). After clearing your browser cache and cookies, log out and reboot your computer, then try logging in using the secure https:// log-in

It says it's uploading (I couldn't get this far last night). Maybe this will work this time. If so, I'll just use Chrome in the future when I need to upload pdf docs.

I suspect this may be part of the problem, as the signal strength out here is very weak (we live in a Mennonite community...and they're not exactly interested in using the internet).

This is what it says my user agent is: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/4.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; MDDC; .NET4.0C)

I am NOT tech savvy and have no idea what any of that means...lol. I know I'm using IE8 on Windows 7.

I have tried with Chrome and wasn't even able to get onto the blog with it.

The WP box in which I attempt to upload the file will stay static at 100% loaded, but then never switch to "view." Instead, it says, "IO Error" with a pink box.

I haven't tried clearning cookies or cache, but will do so.

I'm asking because the way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers. Also note that the main dashboard isn’t designed to work with touch devices through the tablet and smartphone browsers.

(2) Exactly which browser and version of it are you using. If you don’t know click here to find out > http://whatsmyuseragent.com/
Note: If you are running IE9 in compatibility mode then be aware that it renders as IE7 and IE7 is not supported.

(3) Have you tried?
clearing your browser cache and cookies > http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
using the browser with all extensions or add-ons disabled
updating the browser to the latest stable version (not a buggy BETA browser version) http://browsehappy.com/
using another browser
