I used the Firefox 17.0.1 and Chrome 23.0.1271.101 for testing.

If you are still able to reproduce the same issue, could you please try clearing cache and cookies?

If after that the issue persists, could you please let me know the browsers and versions you've tried, and what is the name of the category you are trying to add?

I hope everything gets fixed soon. In the meantime, is there a way to backup my entire blog contents?

Thank you for your response. Whenever I try to add a new category to the left menu using the regular tools from the wordpress panel, it doesn't show on the blog. It seems that I reached some kind of limit in the number of categories allowed, which is a serious problem to me, as I need to organize all the data from my blog in order to allow a proper visualization to the reader. I tried using a different browser and the problem was the same. I really need to overcome this problem soon.

The exact steps: panel - view (?) - menus - add category to the menu - save menu. After this the category disappears from the list.

I see 149 categories listed under your Posts > Categories. Could you please walk me through the steps that you take to add categories, so that I can try to replicate on my side? It sounds like you are actually having trouble adding category links to your custom navigation menu -- is this correct? How many are you trying to add at a time, and does your problem persist if you try using a different browser?

An alternative way to show your readers posts on different topics would be using a Categories Cloud Widget or a Tag Cloud Widget.
