If you switch themes, your widgets will be saved in an Inactive Sidebar area, so you can easily re-apply them to your new theme. You can also drag and drop them into the Inactive Widgets area and their properties will be saved.

I want to update my blog to one of the newer, sharper-looking themes. But it took me awhile to get my widgets the way I wanted them on my current blog. If I switch from Twenty Ten to Twenty Eleven or Twenty Twelve, will I have to manually switch my widgets or will they automatically transfer to the new theme???
