Thanks for the response. Yes, that does makes sense but I'm not looking to purchase a domain at this point. I just deleted the blog and started over with the new name. Good thing I didn't have much posted!

You cannot change the URL though and once you delete a URL it's gone forever. What I would do is purchase domain mapping and the domain name I want. Then it doesn't make any difference what the root blog URL is as all visitors will be seamlessly redirected.
