The Structure theme is a specialized theme. The images in the featured images area are a set size determined by the theme PHP, and WordPress.com only provides the option to add CSS with the Custom Design upgrade and not the underlying code. What this means is that you may be able to adjust the featured image to a larger size with CSS, but it would be stretched so I don't think it would look good.

I would recommend either looking around for a different theme that has a slider that's as wide as you want or switching to a WordPress.org setup with Structure where you have full control of the code and can customize the underlying PHP functions. Sorry there's not a better solution using CSS only!

I'd like to change the header "feature image" width so the set image spans the width of the header (with a little padding, of course). How would I do this? What I've tried doesn't work.
