Thanks auxclass - that's exactly what I'm looking for, except that it seems applicable only to blog posts and pages. I'm trying to apply it to specific media files (pdfs) that I have embedded within pages.

For instance, I might have 20 pdfs linked to on one page, but I just want to send the URL of one of those pdfs with a simplified URL.

I often direct prospective clients to specific links within my WordPress.com site. Unfortunately, the URLs are long and clunky. Is there way to rename them to something more user friendly?

For example - could I rename this: http://mikeschulteweb.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/draftmarapr.pdf

to something like this:
http://eastsidecraft.pdf

I realize that I could rename the pdf file, which would help a bit, but can I shorten the link and get rid of the "mikeschulteweb.files.wordpress.com" -- Is there anything like an internal ow.ly function?

Thanks in advance -

Mike
