I was able to add the red font and also a heading font to the widget box to (hopefully) catch the reader's eye. Actually I have never really worked with "visual editor," so I was completely unaware that colored fonts were available to me. A very pleasant surprise. Thanks as always for your help.

The easiest way is to open a draft post, type in the word, highlight it, apply a color from the font color pulldown on the lower row of icons in the visual editor, switch to the HTML tab and copy out the code.

I always format all my text widget stuff in the visual editor and then switch the the HTML tab and copy it out and paste it into the text widget.
