In April 2010 some bloggers who had been using Chatroll chatboxes began to post to the WordPress.com forum reporting the Chatrolls on their blog were no longer working. Staff responded clarifying the use of this iframe embed was not intended, http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/chatroll-no-longer-shows-up-on-site?replies=33#post-452010 and the bug that allowed the chatboxes to be operational had been fixed.

At Present there are no chatboxes I am aware of that can be used on free hosted WordPress.com blogs.
