Find...

#site-wrapper {
padding-top:15px;
width:500px;
text-align:center;
position:relative;
margin:0 auto;
}

...and change 'width' to a large px (I use 1000px).

To widen the menu find...

#main-nav ul {
text-align:center;
width:500px;
margin:0 auto;
}

...and....

#main-nav ul ul {
background:#fff;
border-bottom:1px solid #f4f4f4;
border-top:1px solid #eaeaea;
display:none;
position:absolute;
top:100%;
left:0;
text-align:center;
width:1000px;
margin:0 auto;
padding:4px 0 3px;
}

...and do the same.

To widen the body area find...

#core-content {
float:none;
width:400px;
margin-top:8px;
margin-left:auto;
margin-right:auto;
}

...and do the same (I chose 800px).

I'm pretty sure that's how I did it - but this is my second day ever coding...

i have choosen the beautiful Manifest theme
how can i modify the width of the column ?
i read somewhere i have to edit the file style.css
as i use wordpress by the wite wordpress.com and not as installed on my own webspace, i am wondering if anything is thought possible or not
i find the width of the column very very thin
