Your theme doesn't make this very obvious, but some like coroline say "5 comments" as a link if you have 5 comments, or "leave a comment" if you have none.

You can use the more tag to make readers go to the individual page if you want. Since your theme doesn't make it obvious that you need to do this to comment it might be a good idea.
