The Twenty Ten theme provides drop downs from Parent pages to child pages. You can create "child pages" which some also call "sub-pages". See the instructions in the support documentation here for creating static pages > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/

When you create a static page you can assign it to be either a Parent page which will display a page tab in the horizontal menu (black band), or you can assign it to be a "child page" of any Parent page you choose, and it will display in a dropdown beneath the Parent page you assigned it to.

So create a static page and then look in the right hand column and find "Attributes". Below that you will see the following - click and make your Parent or child Page assignment there.

Parent
Page Parent

You can arrange your pages in hierarchies. For example, you could have an “About” page that has “Life Story” and “My Dog” pages under it. There are no limits to how deeply nested you can make pages.

all I want to know is how I get relevant pages to follow in the main menu. Say for example I have a title for a section named friends in the header, and then in that section I want to make a new page for each of my friends but I want only the main title of friends to appear and when you click onto that it will display the content of each friends page in that section. All I seem to get is that it will say " display all content regarding friends " and then...nothing? but then the pages show up as new posts? All I want to do is have 5 or 6 main titles and then pages to follow when you click them? But i don't seem to be able to get a clear concise answer? Ah well, heep looking I suppose?

Most themes do NOT have either tabs or drop-down menus for displaying sub-pages (child pages). The one you chose do not have this feature. The only way you can have such a feature is to switch themes. Currently, the iNove, Inuit Types, Monochrome, Neutra, Sandbox 1.6.1, and Titan themes are the only ones that have drop-downs to child pages from parent pages in the top horizontal menu.

That widget makes a list of my pages appear in my sidebar, but doesn't affect the tabs in my header. I had tried this widget, but it doesn't seem to solve the problem. Any advice?

I have pages such as "About" and others set up on my blog. They appear in little tabs on the top right corner. I want to be able to add sub-pages under them. I published one that has "about" as a parent, but it's not showing up anywhere. Help, please?
