When you go to Google's cache you are looking at images on blogs and sites that Google has indexed. Google posts "Website for this image" and this notice on every one of the indexed images "Images may be subject to copyright." Click the images to witness that.

Whoever holds the rights to the content determines the policy for sharing or re-use, so yes, every source can be different.

We have no right to copy things just because they're posted at some website. Unless you know that an image is in the public domain (and that's your job to figure out), or unless you've been given permission to copy it, the only safe assumption is that someone owns the image.

Is it ok to use images found on Bing or Google as long as I am not selling anything (I am just trying to enhance the original content on my blog) and as long as I give credit?

Not necessarily, no. Most sites that display images will have some sort of policy posted regarding reuse. Some prohibit it, some require written permission, others only require a link/credit.

I am fairly new to blogging, only having started a few months ago, and I am confused about how I can use internet images on my blog. Is it ok to use images found on Bing or Google as long as I am not selling anything (I am just trying to enhance the original content on my blog) and as long as I give credit?
I have received conflicting advice and I don't want to be doing anything illegal.
Thanks, Valerie
