In a similar forum, posts from users mention the "header.php" file. Where is that file located?

Another forum mentioned a twentyeleven-child folder. Where is that located?

Another forum mentioned that under the Appearance menu on the Dashboard, there is an Editor / Header subcategory. That does not appear when I look at the Appearance menu. What's the story there?

You are using WordPress.com, but the forums and tutorials you mentioned are for the downloadable WordPress.org software which you can download and install yourself. They're similar, but there are a few key differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. See http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ to learn about the differences.

The Appearance → Editor option is only available in WordPress.org setups.

I would like to remove the search box on my site (using the Twenty Eleven theme).

Here is an example showing how to remove the search box from the navigation bar in the Twenty Eleven theme:

http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/removing-the-search-form-from-the-twenty-eleven-header?replies=9#post-696602

At WordPress.com, tou need to add the CSS to your Appearance → Custom Design → CSS editor to make it work.

I have found a post related to this topic, but I really don't know where to begin with modifying my style sheet. What file do I edit? Where is it located? And so on...

I do not know anything about CSS and the tutorials I have found are cryptic / missing information for dummies like me. Is there someone LIVE I can chat with? I think I just need to be pointed in the right direction on one or two items. Thanks!
