I am going to have to enter custom dns codes in order to keep receiving email from a domain site (HostGator in this case).
I have two questions:
My site told me to enter the main domain name in the "A" record, along with the ip code. There is no subdomain. So, is an "A" record necessary to be entered into the string?
Second: what is the significance of the numeric code in the "MX" record. My site did not mention any numeric code. Do I enter a default 0 (zero) in order to maintain proper syntax?
Thanks for any clues here. Sorry, I can't find explanations elsewhere.
