The custom upgrade applies to the blog - not to the theme. You can change themes as many times as you wish to with or without the custom upgrade. if you do have the upgrade then you have to change the CSS.

I won't likely have custom CSS...I was just wondering if I can change themes or if the custom upgrade is just for the current theme I have.

CSS is themes specific. If you have custom CSS and later change themes, you need to delete whatever CSS you have in the Editor, otherwise, you’ll get undesired results.

To ‘reset’ a theme, you need to delete the CSS in the Editor, make sure the “add to existing CSS” radio button is checked, then save. Things should go back to normal.

You can make changes any time and in fact people tend to tinker for weeks.

When I get a custom upgrade, can I change font or color anytime or am I stuck with what I choose when I purchase the upgrade?
