You can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

Or you can register a domain vis a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

So I deleted my blog a few weeks ago. I wanted to start over, but I wanted to keep the same domain name. Now, when I go to create a new blog, and enter the previous domain name, it says it's taken. I've visited the site, and all it says is "The authors have deleted this blog". Can you help? Thanks!
