So apparently you're talking about a different blog.

b) When you delete a category, the posts that had been filed under that category aren't assigned to "Uncategorized", they are assigned to the category you've set as your default post category in Settings > Writing (which may or may not be "Uncategorized").

I'm not sure about deleting one of these as I just tried to do that with another one (London, England) but I lost both it and the two posts that were on it. It says that if a category is deleted, the posts revert to the Uncategorised cat., but I don't have this 'uncategorised listing. I may have deleted it at some time, thinking I wouldn't need it.
Can I restore it myself, or should this be a process carried out by the backroom boys?
