I'm really new on CSS editing and I've been trying to colour my widgets on just one plain colour on theme Digg 3 Column but Im not sure how.

Aswell I wanted to know how to make the sections of the post all of a Plain colour.
I almost did this using this code:
body,#content,#menu,#rap {
background-color:#0888EA;
}
but between each post theres a blank space. And I want the whole post section to be one colour

I'd like to end up with something like this:
