I've said before that I think all themes on WordPress.com should support as many common features as possible. It's a shame if I can't switch to another theme only because of one missing feature.

Why not investing some more developer time in achieving feature parity between most themes before adding new themes all the time?

For example I would like to see that every theme on WordPress.com supports Post Formats.

But many people are asking in the forums where you can switch on/off the option to display the author. How about adding this option in every theme to customize the blog?
