I am trying to limit my front page post displays to about 3 posts, though I would like when someone does a search or views archives for all relevent posts to be listed (ie- if there are 27 relevent entries, all are displayed on scrren)

currently it seems though the wordpress Options/Reading, if you change the "Show at most" it will change how many will appear accross the board, not just on the front page.

Any tips on how to acheive this or plugins?
