I know that there are many facilities on the net for doing this and I suggest you google "save youtube video" or similar. Many results will return for you.

Are you sure your blog is hosted at WordPress.com, though? You mention plugins and we can't install those here, that only comes with the WP.org software. I have got some .flv files but I think something is wrong with them because I can't get them to play in wordpress...and I do have the .flv plugin. Any help would be appreciated.
