    HTML tag will insert a numbered list, or wrap the selected text in same. Each item in an ordered list are typically numbered.

The allowed tags link above is helpful. I see that it allows ol tags, but when I try to do something a little more sophisticated <ol start="3">, it just keeps stripping out everything but ol. Is the additional code within the ol tag not allowed? (By the way, I was also trying to add a horizontal rule <hr>, which is an allowed tag. It wasn't showing up in my post, but then this morning I changed themes and it did show up.)

I realize from what I've read that I can't edit the HTML for a template. Can I edit the HTML on a specific post? I imported my posts from blogger in which I had basic HTML like horizontal rules <HR> and minor tags within lists, like <ol start="3"> and I can't get them to take. Is what I'm trying to do possible?
