What you're asking now is totally different.

"can I have several image galleries on the one page with specific sets of images?"
Yes, plus there are other alternatives as well.
"Seems more complicated than it needs to be in my opinion."
Can be less complicated, or completely uncomplicated.

More details after you explain
a) why you want several sets of images on one page,
b) how many images per set you're thinking of,
c) what exactly "image galleries" means to you: you're interested in displaying sets of thumbnails in rows and columns, or in the carousel slideshow that shows up if you use the WP gallery feature?

Hm, I figured the solution was something of that nature, but it seems like it may not be what I'm after. When I link a post category to a menu tab, upon navigating to the post category page, it brings up the widget side menu, which I don't want there, and a "Category Archives: Portfolio" title thingy which I'm not interested in either.

What I want is to have several image galleries, each with a specific set of images, on one page. With the way pages work on WordPress as "single posts", can I have several image galleries on the one page with specific sets of images?

From the research I've done so far it looks like I can, but I'd have to dabble in code using the "include" command, or something. Seems more complicated than it needs to be in my opinion.

Seeing as you answered that question so quickly and described with perfect clarity and simplicity what I needed to do. I had another question.

Can I create posts and assign them to a specific page so that they are only displayed on that page? If so, how might I do that? I'm assuming it involves using categories in some way?

Thanks!

So I have several pages on my website with specific titles such as "About" and "Showreel" which you can navigate to using the custom navigation menu bar I created. Now, I want the titles of the pages to remain the same on the navigation bar itself, but on the actual -page-, I'd like to be able to customize the titles to whatever I want. For example, have the title on the Showreel page be "Spring 2012". How do I go about doing this?

Thanks!
