Nothing has changed in the over 6 years I have been here when it comes to editing templates and themes on WordPress.com free hosted blog - we can't access the files and edit period and have never been able to. This is a multiuser blogging platform.

There is no upgrade you can purchase that will provide FTP access and the ability to install plugins, upload themes, and/or edit templates and themes in a free hosted WordPress.com blog. To use plugins you must hire a web host and then set up your own WordPress.org install.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/

Please read this comparison > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Hello,

I have been working on two websites hosted on WordPress, http://www.theparadigmshifts.com and http://www.dr-rosie.com . I was able to access the coding via ftp server and edit the templates there using hard code. I no longer can access the ftp, and a new website I am working on, http://www.gracemccune.wordpress.com, needs editing in the same way. Why has this changed? Can you help me access this?
