What's probably happening is someone is using Google Chrome and has not clued into the fact it has no built-in feed reader. The RSS Subscription Extension (by Google) for Chrome must be installed.

works fine for me - are you using Chrome? It does not have a built in reader and you need to install one

Confused by the support pages. Seems to suggest this is automatic, or that I need to add /feed/ to my url.

Very reluctant to fiddle with domains and no idea how I might amend or append the /feed/, or whether I do it to my wordpress address or my own domain.
