Is it definitely set to be public? Those are the first things I would suggest checking. Otherwise post the URL to the google calendar xml and we can take a look.

I have been wanting to add an events calendar to my new blog and I read a couple of old topics about this and they all referred me to this site http://helensnerdyblog.wordpress.com/2007/11/27/how-to-add-a-google-calendar-to-your-wordpresscom-blog-using-the-rss-widget/ however, when trying to follow the steps I cant get past this part

"The feed43-is-brilliant bit

Now go to feed43 and “create a new feed”

Step 1. specify the input feed as the url you just made, and click reload."

Why? Because after I put the url and click reload I get an error : 403 Forbidden

Please help, what am I doing wrong?? Or is there another way of adding an event calendar?
