If you delete, they are gone. Your wordpress site will not archive deleted material. See this on deleted pages and posts.

And static pages are just that, static. Posts are added to your posts page. See the wordpress document on the difference between pages and posts.

Also in using a static page how do l ensure that stories l delete will go into the monthly archives so viewers can still access them?
