Just use any old domain, like http://wlva.wordpress.com/ and the domain mapping upgrade.

It appears that username is already in use, but the individual with that username appears to be inactive on WordPress. (It's even possible that, many years ago, *I* signed up for the username williamalba but remained inactive.)

More to the point, I would like to create the blog williamalba.wordpress.com, and link the domain williamalba.com (which I already own) to that blog. But williamalba.wordpress.com is not available, presumably because that username already exists.

If the username williamalba and the URL williamalba.wordpress.com are both inactive, is WordPress.com able to release them? Thank you.
