There is also probably more than one way to do it. Here's what I came up with:

	background: url('http://gddesignerstylehiredotcom.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/a4-sheet-white-background.jpg') top center repeat;
}

body.custom-background {
	background: url('http://gddesignerstylehiredotcom.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/cropped-sign_header-e1345056124314.jpg') top center no-repeat;
	padding-top: 97px;
}

#masthead a[rel="home"] {
	display: none;
}

Try it out and see if it's the result you were after.
