You need the paid custom design upgrade and then you have to make the changes in CSS code.

The best way to find a design that you like is to make a few posts FIRST, then try different themes available on your Appearance->Themes page, You can preview them without activating them, and it shows you what the theme looks like with your specific posts on them. It's impossible to judge a theme with no posts on it.

I haven't published any posts yet, but when I did a test post, my post was surrounded by a white box, making it out of place compared to the rest of my page.

My entire posting area seems to be filled with this white box, if you visit my page, you'll probably get a view of what I'm on about.

Anyway, I was wondering if it were possible to somehow change the colour of this box? So it's black like the background maybe?

I can't seem to find anything in the options for changing appearance.
