I'm not sure if I'm on the right thread here, but I'm having trouble activating my image widget. It should be in order: I've activated other widgets in the past on my .com, twenty ten site, and I'm able to drag it over to the side, drop it in, access the pop-up box, type in all the EXACT info required but then when I click save, nothing happens, and it never appears on my blog. I have gone through these steps over and over again, trying any new little "glich" I can think of, even referring to friends who know wordpress functions (they all tell me to do exactly what I've already been doing) but nothing. It's so very frustating. I'm not the most computer savvy person, but I know how to do a few things and this is so basic...Does anyone have any experience with this default and any suggestion, or could it be another wordpress-end technicality, and if so, how do I attempt to make it right? Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated.

can I still keep the domain name I have just purchased

Yes you can.
If you’ve registered your domain through WordPress.com and now want it to point to a blog or website hosted elsewhere then you can do this by updating the nameservers. The nameservers control where traffic for the domain goes using DNS. If you are moving from WordPress.com to a self-hosted WordPress.org blog, you can enter the nameservers provided by your web hosting company to switch your domain to their hosting service. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-nameservers

Hi.
plugins are not available for wordpress.COM blogs.
they will not work for your blog connected to your profile name.

those plug ins are for selfhosted sites using wordpress.ORG

This explains the difference:
http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

if you have a selfhosted blog somewhere this is the correct forum to ask the above:

Okay, so I have used WordPress for some time but never experimented as such with different widgets/plug-ins. I recently upgraded to a domain name and would like to make my blog look a little neater. I have found the Image Rotator and exfm music player to be two features I would like to add to my site, yet get confused in the installation.

For instance, the first two steps for exfm are:

1. Unzip exfm.zip and upload the entire folder to wp-content/plugins.
2. Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress

I don't know where the wp-content/plugins. folder is, nor do I see a 'Plugins' menu in WordPress. It's probably really simple and I haven't done something I am supposed to have done, but as I say, this is the first time I've ever bought a domain/started using plug-ins so I'm a little confused.

Thanks!
