Thanks very much sacredpath! I figured it would take something like that. I think I know what you mean about hiding one of the tabs and that would get rid of one of the lines at least. Thanks!

That is sort of a peculiarity with Vigilance. When you create a static front page, since Vigilance has a "home" tab, then both of those tabs end up leading to the same page - the static front page you created. That is why both are highlighted with the bar above them.

To remove those bars would take the paid CSS upgrade and CSS editing experience. Also, there is no way to remove the "home" page. That would require access and editing of the underlying them PHP script files, and we do not have access to those.

If your static front page was named "home" then there is a trick that can be used to hide one of the tabs, giving you just the one home tab linked to your static front page.

You might want to take a look at this blog post which lists which themes have "home" tabs and which do not.

http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/05/06/the-home-tab/

I am using the Vigilance theme. I have a static front page which is different from my posts page. On all pages, the title of the front page (Home) and the title of the posts page (What's New) appear in a different color with a bar over them. The other page names appear that way only when the cursor hovers over them.

Is there a way to suppress the bar and the highlight color unless the item is selected? My guess is that it has something to do with the front page and the posts page being differentiated but it looks fairly strange.
