Question for timethief: messed with HOME page. HOME is a tab at top of screen, but page does not show up in All Pages or Menu. Cannot edit it, cannot delete it. How do I fix it or delete it from top of page? Should I delete account and start over?

Yes, I understand all that. I just wanted my blog to have it's own name besides "home." And the only reason I wanted my blog to be at the first, is because according to my stats, no one goes further than my home page...I want people to read my blog v. my "about me" page. I thought that might accomplish that. Also, I couldn't get rid of the second page which only contained the comments form.

Anyhow...I've changed it back (altho, like I said, I've now lost all the comments on my home page).

I don't understand your fear.
1. This is the blog address or URL for your blog http://writingwicket.wordpress.com/
2. By default this is the front page of the blog http://writingwicket.wordpress.com/
3. The Home link is your blog's URL http://writingwicket.wordpress.com/
4. The Blog Title and optional Tagline which are currently: Writing Wicket · writing, author, book, books, sales, sale, sell, read can be changed at any time on this page > Settings > General

Pages are static and are for content that rarely changes. They sit outside of the blog structure and you cannot post to multiple pages in any blog. There is only one main page for posts in a blog and all posts will display on the main blog page. There is no way to exclude posts from the main posts (blog) page.

The front page of the blog by default will display your posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. If you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page "Welcome" for your site and a “Blog” page for posts.

Which do you choose? It’s one or the other.

If you choose Choice 1 static front page then you have to create two pages as I said above. After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.

Home is the link that visitors click form any page in your blog in order to return to the front page of the blog. Several themes have a special header tab, usually “Home”, occasionally “Homepage” [*] or “Blog” [**] or an image [***] or the actual title of the blog [****]: that’s not a page such as those you create but a link back to the blog front (the main blog URL, which can be your latest posts or a static page). That tab is hard-coded into the default menu of the theme: you cannot edit or remove it (except in the few cases noted), unless you create and load a custom top menu (see note 2 at the bottom). http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/05/06/the-home-tab/

I switched my blog page to the first page, the home page. But it is named "Home" and the second page is the name of my blog. All that's on the second page is the blank space for comments.

How do I get rid of "Home" and change it to the name of my blog?

I deleted the prior Home page that was static and now I've deleted all the comments I had there...oh well....
