I want to display the RSS feeds to my own blog posts and comments in my sidebar

You go here > Appearance > Widgets and select the RSS links widget
You follow the guide here to see it up http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/rss-links-widget/
Then you click "save" and "close" inside the widget.

There are no mechanics involved here. All WordPress blogs have multiple built-in RSS Feeds. http://en.support.wordpress.com/feeds/

The RSS widget provides your readers with your site's RSS feed URL for posts and your site's RSS feed URL for comments too if you select to display both.
