This process can take up to 72 hours (though usually much less). Unfortunately, we have no control over this as it all depends on how often your internet service provider updates their records.

I initially entered:

MX 10 mx00.1and1.com.
MX 20 mx01.1and1.com.

As shown above. It did not work for me. I contacted 1and1 tech support and asked. They advised me to enter:

MX 10 00.1and1.com.
MX 20 01.1and1.com.

Still not working.

Can anyone advise on which one is right? How long do I have to wait?

I had the same problem. Thanks to Bryan Villarin I can now use my 1and1 email with wordpress. For that follow those instructions :

http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/custom-dns/

and then for 1and1 just enter :

MX 10 mx00.1and1.com.
MX 20 mx01.1and1.com.

Save and it's done !

There are not specific instructions to using my 1and1 email associated with my domain. I do see the Domains/Custom DNS records in my settings, I just want to make sure I don't mess anything up. How should I proceed? Thanks!
