If I click on a post that has the read more tag and do click to read the whole post on it's own page that's 2 page views.

We have no control over people opening more than one tab in the situation your describe. What effect it has on stats is as I stated above ie. both open windows each count for 1 pageview, unless the reader keeps clicking. If they do then every click opens another page and that counts as another page view stat.

How do statistics work with that? If somebody hits my home page, then hits "continue reading" on one of the posts there, does that count as one view or two views? How about if they hit the entry subject instead? And finally, what if they open more than one, each in a new tab? It seems like a tricky problem if you try to avoid any double counting.

Sorry if this has been answered before, but my search did not turn up anything.
